Another Addition

Occasionally there are things we come across that we simply cannot live without.  That happens to be the experience I had with this nine-foot picture of one of my favorite places--Temple Square in Salt Lake City.  The picture is a Robert Boyd panorama of all of the most beautiful buildings on Temple Square right at the peak of fall color.  It was hanging in the Beehive Clothing Store inside the flagship Deseret Book in City Creek Mall when I happened to fall in love with it.  I didn't mean to fall in love, but as I was placing a clothing order, I suddenly looked up, and for a brief moment in time, my mind froze and my eyes were mesmerized.  I knew in my heart that I couldn't go home without this picture.  Of course I had to overcome the small obstacle of it not actually being for sale, but after talking to all of the right people, having a special container handmade to transport the picture home, and agreeing to let it stay up until the Presiding Bishopric had completed their store tour later that day, this spectacular piece of art become a part of my personal art collection--a family heirloom for sure!

 

Utah Car Swap

 After several years of driving Grandpa Hoskins's old Acura, Nick decided it was finally time for an upgrade.  Our trip to Utah for Grandpa Carter's funeral proved the perfect time to finally get the truck of his dreams.  A black Ford F-150 was just what he wanted and became the newest member of our car family.  Out with the old, in with the new!

Travel Stopover #3: Grandpa Carter's Birth Home

One last stopover had to be made before we joined all of the family gathered for Grandpa's funeral.  This was a stopover at Grandpa Carter's birth home--a humble log cabin on the Utah frontier.  It's amazing how far we can come in only a few generations.

 

 

Travel Stopover #2: Yellowstone National Park

One of our favorite places to visit on our way to Utah is Yellowstone National Park.   Whether it's stopping to wade in the Yellowstone River,

Scouting out wildlife,

listening to the sound of a waterfall,

playing around at Old Faithful,

checking out the other geothermal features,

or catching a beautiful sunset, Yellowstone is always an amazing way to spend a day.
