Sometimes when you're taking a family roadtrip you just have to take a break from the car and get a little bit of fresh air. This was especially true as we went through the Beartooth Mountain Pass on our way to Utah to attend Grandpa Carter's funeral. Hearts were a little heavy as we made our way there, and the beauty of the valley could not be overlooked as we drove through the tops of the mountains. We stopped for a few minutes here to get a photo at the top of the pass,
and then made another stop shortly after to indulge the kids' need to "play in the snow in the middle of the summer." We may or may not have had a little Lord of the Rings playing as we made our courageous charge up the mountain. It definitely added to the sense adventure, and of course, to the triumph we felt when we finally reached the summit.
