After getting all settled into our new little rental house, (which happened amazingly quickly since we just brought load after load of laundry baskets over and immediately put everything away) we we excited to finally be able to have people over without worrying what the downstairs neighbors were thinking about it. So, tonight we had the Bahr family over to share some of the goodies we acquired while in Florida.
The Bahrs are a family we met right after moving to Bismarck. They had us over for dessert one night, and a friendship immediately blossomed, despite the age gap in our children. They are one of the best families we have every met, and our kids are as obsessed with seeing "Grandma and Grandpa Bahr" as they are with their own grandparents. They have also become especially attached to their kids, who play with, babysit, and talk to our kids just like they were age-equivalent buddies. This is especially true when we discuss one of all of our favorite topics--Harry Potter. Their kids love Harry Potter as much as we do, especially their son Mike who is set to be leaving on a mission in ten days. Consequently, the kids promised we would bring back Honey Dukes treats and have a Harry Potter night with them before Mike left.
While they were at our home, we talked, played,
and then got down to business. The kids and I got robed up and we kicked off our Harry Potter celebration by having an every flavor bean tasting party. Then we cleansed our palates with fizzing whizz-bees, sherbet lemons, chocolate frogs, exploding bon bons, peppered imps, and licorice wands.
It was wonderful, and so fun to share with people who truly appreciate the fine points of "Potter Doctrine" they my kids and I know so well!
