While we made these books, we talked all about the city and state where they were born, and all about what sorts of things we liked to do when we lived there. Making these books was a fun project for the kids. It helped the older kids remember our time there, and it seemed like an especially good idea since we would be making a two-day stopover in St. Louis on our way to Nick's rotation in Jacksonville Florida. As it turned out, it was an excellent idea. The kids picked out our old house when we drove down our old street,

they seemed to pick up right where we left off when we got together with some of our old St. Louis buddies,

They are famous for the root beer, and these:
Yummy! The Spencer's were kind enough to let us stay with them for the night. The kids loved it! And it was so good to catch up!)
they strolled around the zoo like they had just been there last week,
and they made their was straight to the Magic House pizzeria when we stopped in for a few hours to play.
(They also enjoyed the new hospital wing,
and the refurbished construction area.)
It was an excellent trip back to our old stomping ground, and we capped off the day with some hot dogs and waffle cones, (both of which we learned were invented at the St. Louis worlds fair)
and a quick picture at the famous St. Louis landmark--the arch.
We can hardly wait to drive back through next December, when we can visit Old St. Charles and take a drive through Our Lady of the Snow's fabulous Christmas lights demonstration!
