Apple Ridge Apple Orchard

After we wrapped up our first preschool unit of "Being Special" with our VIP party, our next preschool unit was one of my favorite: "Apple Days." We talked about trees, fall time, and of course--apples. Then we called up the Apple Ridge Apple Orchard and set up a field trip so that the preschoolers could get a little hands-on experience with apple picking. We came here two years ago with Spencer's preschool group, and it was definitely worth a second visit.

Upon arriving, we took the obligatory pictures on the Apple Ridge picture log,





and then all climbed aboard a tractor pulled wagon.



The tractor carried us out into the fields where we picked and picked and picked.

We also took the kids through the corn maze,





picked pumpkins,



and worked on the scavenger hunt that I had prepared during our visit. When the kids finished their scavenger hunt they turned it in for some fresh apple cider and a few powdered sugar donuts.









After eating donuts, the kids played around a bit by the animals, and they we headed back up to the main parking lot.







All in all, it was a great little field trip. And to top it off, at the end of the field trip, we almost become the proud owners of an adorable little pom-pom puppy. Almost, because Nick is never going to let us get a dog. Despite persistent promises, it just isn't going to happen. The kids sure did give him a run for his money with their pleas though. We held those puppies for a good hour before he finally pulled us away!
