Then they nibbled at a few slices of the raw apples and the curly apple peel while the apples stewed into wonderful, warm apple sauce. Everybody enjoyed a little of that too.
We also sliced apples and made apple pie filling for another preschool day. While it was supposed to be all about apples, I think the kids actually liked rolling out the pie dough just as much. They helped me fit the dough into the pie pan, and then each got their own small piece to roll out. Then they took my nifty Williams and Sonoma mini pie cutters and cut out little fall shapes to decorate the top of the pie. The kids loved it so much we didn't even get time to eat the pie they decorated on the day we made it. They all got a lovely piece with ice cream the next time they came to my house though. It was great and tasty fun.
One more preschool unit down, just our Halloween unit to go!
